Gillian Garcia

Hailing from Trinidad, Gillian Garcia is one of the most gifted and talented hairstylists in Brooklyn.  She has been doing hair for the past eighteen years and is currently the owner of Perfection Hair Styling Team located in the heart of East Flatbush.  Her salon provides a professional and positive atmosphere for its clientele while focusing on promoting healthy scalp and hair. 

Gillian believes in the elevation of one’s self through hard work and dedication to having a personal relationship with God.  She is presently an Educator; stylist for Mona’s Hair Center where she creates all the looks for their catalogues; and is the founder of The Best Me Program- a community program that focuses on young women between the ages of 13 and 18. 

In 2005, Gillian held her first Annual Hair Extension Showcase at Farragut Manor on Flatbush Avenue.  Her show featured creative and extravagant Fusion, Seamless, Tracking, Bonding, custom wigs and Quick weave hairstyles.  The main focus of this show was to showcase her growing talent and celebrate her success with her clients, friends, family and supporters.  (All of the models that participated in this event were clients.)

Earlier this year, Gillian desired to give something back to a community that had been supportive of her over the last 10+ years.  After careful thought and research, she decided to host and personally sponsor a four week summer program that would provide a venue for 32 young women to discuss their experiences, misconceptions and pressure when confronting the issues of beauty and the standards that society have imposed on them.  The program started at full capacity on August 6, 2006 and reached a successful conclusion on August 27, 2006.  Next year’s program is now in the planning stages.

Gillian strongly believes in customer service and making every customer feel and look their best.  Hair care is just a part of the experience at Perfection Hair Styling Team- building long, meaningful relationships is the other.  Gillian knows that without making herself approachable and accessible to her clients, she may miss an opportunity to bless someone or provide a word of encouragement or inspiration.  Thus, since she bought the shop in 2002, Gillian’s creativity and passion for quality hair care and customer satisfaction has increased her clientele rapidly. 

Gillian has received accolades in the past from her long time clients, but has been honored to be featured in trendy hair magazines such as Black Passion, Cut & Color and Black Sophisticate; as well as being awarded Stylist of  the Year.

Gillian looks forward to the future and knows that God has many more blessings in store for her.
